  1. I attended CCCTC in my junior and senior year in high school. I graduated in 2004. I have consecutively had a job related to drafting ever since. I think attending the class really gave me a head start. To anyone who is thinking about taking the course I would highly recommend it. Even if you plan on attending secondary school after high school attending the Vo-Tech defiantly will give you the edge to be better.

  2. The Architectural Drafting program at the CCCTC is a great program. I would advise any one interested in design to join. The instructor, Brad Dixon, is a great teacher, I would say one of the best in the building.

I took Architectural Drafting at the CCCTC for 3 years. The knowledge I gained from the program is way above what I expected to learn. If I were to continue in an Architectual Drafting career I would be well prepared. Not only would I be prepared, but I wouldn't have to worry about getting all the credits. This is because the Drafting program offers you a chance to gain college credits while taking this class. In just 2 years I recived 30 credits for around $750. At a regular college to get 30 credits it could cost you around 8 to 15 thousand dollars.

During my time in this program I learned more than just drafting. In our free time we were able to learn photography, photoshop, and even video creating. For my senior project I did an interior design board. Without Mr. Dixon's help I would have never been able to complete this board. When I presented my project my guidance counsler said it was one of the best projects she's seen. Mr. Dixon provided me with an outline of things I should look for and include on my board. One of my colleages did his senior project on the free stage at the drive-in park. Visiting this free stage is proof enough to see what can be accomplished in this program. This was my colleages second year in drafting and he was able to design this building on his own, with the help of Mr. Dixon. Most college students in their second year would not be able to do this.

I was able to go on two field trips while in the program. One to Falling Water and one to Pittsburgh. Falling Water is one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen. In our visit to Pittsburgh we were able to visit great architechual places, take a tour of the Pirates stadium, and even shop!

I am glad that I decided to take the Architectual Drafting program. I made great friends, gained a lot of knowledge, and was able to visit great places. This is the program to take. You'll never regret it either!

  3. I'm currently a senior in the Drafting program, This class has done alot for me; its been a real inspiration to succeeding at what i plan to do in the future. There's so much to learn out there and informations never gonna stop knocking on your door. You just have to reach out and grab what interests you the most. Before i even started class at the career center i knew what kinda person i was. I'm the type of person who always puts things into order and i always have to plan things out before they actually happen; fearing that they just might not go right.

I think sometimes a two year degree or technical degree can be looked down on by alot of high honor students. For some reason guidance counselors like to shy away from pushing their smarter students towards career centers. This is probably one of the biggest flaws in Central Pennsylvania's educational institutions. Many other states have the technical schools separate from local high schools, and at that its nearly impossible to get into the tech schools. I think alot of people just don't understand the actual value of learning career education. By far its way more inportant than all that text book mumble jumble you go through in high school. All though thats just as valuable as anything as long as its related to what your planning to do in life. Personally i ignored alot of the talk about the career center and chose to find out for myself, being a straight a student.

To get to the point Architectural Drafting at the career center is a dedicated course. If you wanna learn about Construction and Engineering Design this is the class for you. Not only that but theres alot of 3d animation involved and software that some college institutions don't even provide. I can count out numerous friends of mine that would have joined the class had they known of the future software we now have.

Everyones seen the 3d animations available for design, well this is the class where it can all start out for you if you let it.
Architectural Drafting at the Clearfield County Career Center isn't just about school, its about dedicating yourself for a better future.

  4. I graduated from the Architectural Drafting program in 2008 at the CCCTC. It is a really great program for anyone that has an interest in architecture, engineering or even construction.
I am now enrolled at Penn College in the Architectural Technology major and from taking the course at the CCCTC has set me above other students in the major. I advanced out of two classes at Penn College because of the education Mr. Dixon gave me. It saved me money and I also got a 4.0 GPA in my first semester because Mr. Dixon educated me so well. I knew Mr. Dixon gave me a great education when I graduated from his class but now that I'm in college I can really see how much I've learned compared to my other classmates who struggle with things that Mr. Dixon taught me while in high school.

Mr. Dixon is a great teacher and I learned a lot from him. He teaches a wide range of topics in the architectural field. I learned how to use computer software like, AutoCad, AutoCad for Architecture, Revit and Photoshop. With these programs I learned how to make 2d and 3d drawings of buildings. AutoCad is the most used application in his class and the mostly used cad software in many architectural and engineering firms. In this class you learn the terminology of the subject and how buildings are to be correctly drawn and built. I learned how to draw floor plans, foundation plans, wall sections, framing plans and also electrical, plumbing and HVAC. As he teaches how to draw all of those plans he also enforces the use of building codes, just like a real world situation and they come together as working drawings. Mr. Dixon teaches more topics then what I have listed and he also makes it fun for his students.

I designed the free stage at the Clearfield County Fairgrounds for my senior project. I used the education provided by Mr. Dixon to create a set of working drawings so that the stage could be built. I wouldn't have been able to design it without the education from Mr. Dixon.

I'm very glad I took the course at CCCTC. I learned so much from Mr. Dixon and I can never thank him enough, he is a great teacher and also a really great guy. If anyone is interested in architecture, I highly recommend taking his class.
